This could be the makings of a good trucker joke, but there is one way I can see that the emissions systems could actually be useful to the trucking industry.

You see... DEF is urea, somewhat like urine. With the proper engineering modifications, why can't the system be made so drivers can refill their DEF tanks "naturally", without having to stop! Fewer stops and more miles for the driver, company does have to pay 2.50 to 3.00 dollars a gallon for DEF! LOL

 

Certainly silly, but when you look at it you'd have to distill a whole hell of a lot of urine to get a bit of DEF. Urea is 9.3 grams per liter of urine and DEF is 32.5% urea by volume. So that's, what, 35 gallons of urine to one gallon of DEF?

 

So urine being 32.5% per liter of urea is how much percent??

 

If urine is the same density of water then it's 1kg per liter and that makes it easy, 9.3g/l is 0.93%.

 

Confusing.

 

They would just have to adjust to injecting 4 times as much into the exhaust.

DEF would have to be renamed PEEF.

Unfortunately, truck stops can smell bad enough as it is. Don't think I would want to be around when a re-gen was going on.
