It's not about upfront costs it's ongoing cost of operation a new emmission truck averages a maint cost of 18cpm my last 12.7 engine at 1.7 million miles never cost me more than 8cpm and never got towed anywhere ....while my accert had numbers I try to forget and was on a hook three times in one year before pdi fixed it for me

They rebuild the Detroit engines in house which are after market parts. No Detroit certified shop will warranty the engine, unless you opt for the Clark built engine they are Detroit certified. Another stupid thing is they put the wrong cam bearings and things in the head. Also they do not stock many parts except body parts and hoods. My carrier just tried to get a protection valve from them, or, an air compressor line.
My next gripe is they put Rotella in everything witch is blasphemy by all truck engine oems right now. The only reason they sell trucks is because nobody wants to finance a project truck sitting in your yard. And fyi if you want to buy a Fitzgerald for the exemption do not buy that truck until freightliner runs the engine serial number. I've saw one built last year that was newer non exempt series 60.

Over the course of a million miles taking my experience with maint costs on a 12.7 and the industry average for emmission trucks over the million miles life of a truck the maint savings almost make those trucks free not even counting the reduced downtime

Actually, in your own words, you don't support gliders. You're taking what they said out of context to support your theory that brand new trucks are better than gliders.

    Wrong.
