I wouldn't fear a used axle, I'd just be picky about where it came from. If you can find one off a burnt truck (like as in the cab burnt, not the engine area) chances are it won't be bent or twisted.
Bigrigmayo93 Thanks this. -
The alignment can still be in specs.
Worn rear spring shackles are often over looked. That can shift one side of the axle back allowing for a little more pull to one side if they all work together.Bigrigmayo93 and Rideandrepair Thank this. -
One of my Mechanics once told me that if axle work is needed ( bushing) by axle surgeon, it’s best to let them do the whole job. King pins also. According to him it would be cheaper and axle surgeons have a superior product. He’s an honest and very affordable Mechanic, always steered me right.
BoxCarKidd, Tombstone69 and Bigrigmayo93 Thank this. -
Bigguns you and I will talk at some length about those 34 wheels.
I have a sort of solution in mind and it's pretty outrageous. I'll get started on that this month. -
I said nothing about wheels. I was referring to 2 axles with different tracking widths. The wide axle allows for a tighter turning radius.
wore out Thanks this. -

Well a better turning radius wouldn’t be a bad idea.. -

That is to be expected.
