when you approach a construction zone you can see that they are bright.when you are lookin in that mirror, its dark.then the flash, that is multiplied by that mirror.im not lookin directly into the lights on the highway like im focused on the mirror.maybe after youve been at the wheel for 20yrs you'll finally get the point.or when ipass you on the road and you keep your highs on to be a di=k,and i shine your windshield w/a Q-beam.

Because when I started, the veterans told me it was disrespectful. So I stopped. So maybe...just maybe the rookies should listen to the vets? I dunno. Do what you want.

well i drive a freightshaker and the mirrors sometimes vibrate so bad it messes with the depth perception. i appreciate the flash so that i know the is enough room (safe traveling distance) for me to get back over. I do use my brights but only because i do not have a seperate head light switch and would have to turn off all my lights to kill the headlights.

Simple solution...bring that light switch all the way down...you know the position for marker lights...down and up gives the passing truck "the blink" from the head lights, and you don't "disappear" with no lights.

We been doing that long before the headlight interrupt switch came to be.....

I had to rant, I know wrong thread...

Heading south out of Camp Verde AZ on I-17 (big hill 5 miles long) at nite. I pulled to the left lane to pass a 30MPH truck. I was doing 60. I saw a supertruck doing about 90 coming up in the right lane. I was dead even with the slow truck, I was shocked to see supertrucker pass on the right shoulder!
He tore his right sidemarker and mudflap off with something he ran over because he was 2 feet off the pavement.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot is this industry coming to?

Might want to re-think this technique as you will not see a motorcyclist sailing around you in that fender mirror in time to avoid hitting him/her while chnging lanes. I always observe mirrors for motorcyclyes as they can pop-up from out of nowhere and if you're always on the lookout for them, you'll see cars and trucks coming around you even better. Check, check, and re-check ALL mirrors all the time every time!

For one, it is just the courteous thing to do.

Two, although you may always know when you're clear, others may appreciate the added confirmation.

Three, just wait until winter when neither of you can see anything because snow and water and mud is being flung everywhere.

And lastly, not to insult your intelligence, just be sure you are going on/off, not flashing your brights.

    chico9696 Thanks this.
