No its not outdated it just that there are alot of drivers who dont have the curtasy to thank you, and alot of drivers might be on the phone with there family or there dispach, u never know but dont stop because some of them dont think ya there are alot of us who do, and I want to thank you for being one of the few 4wheelers who still do that for us

My mom taught me to turn my lights on and off, because the bright lights can hurt the eyes. I still do it, both in my car and big truck. I also turn the lights on/off for any vehicle pulling a trailer.

I prefer the on/off method to flashing bright lights because usually the driver passing you is looking in the mirror right at the same time when you are flashing your brights. The mirror, especially if it has road grime on it, amplifies the brightness. OUCH!

i'll do it occasionally, but i try to refrain, because as stated, it is agains many companies policies. If you flash someone over, you are telling them they are clear. if they arent, you just claimed responsibility for that accident perhaps. I dont think most drivers are not being courtious, i think they are usually just trying to keep thier jobs, not be ticketed, and trying to drive safe.

as mentioned, most drivers will come over before i feel comfortable... same goes the other way. they will usually flash me long before i am ready to move. i would rather use my own judgment, which i know i can trust.

Not to mention waking up your team partner. Air horns are not used by me.

This tends to happen with kids on school buses. They often make the arm motion. I used to do it myself.

A few years back a New Mexico motorist fought a ticket for flashing his headlamps that an officer gave him for "interfering with the police". The judge dismissed the ticket and said that flashing your headlamps, regardless of the reason, falls under the 1st Amendment. At least in NM, the precedent has been set that flashing your headlamps is protected free speech.

Sometimes you have to move over quickly because there are plenty of jerks in 4 wheelers out there that will cut around your trailer to pass you on the right as soon as they can.

I always flash big rigs whether in my car or truck, and I also hit the marker interupter or turned the fourways on for a few flashes to say thanks. I also think it is useful when you got some crazy fourwheeler or rig riddin their butt. I could see a cop giving someone a ticket for it if they were flashing there lights like crazy. When I flash I shut them off for two seconds then back on, no more after that. If the driver saw it they saw it if not oh well. Oh and I always flashed regular pickups with big trailers, they also seem to like it.
