The first half of the year is pretty normal for me. The reason why my third quarter was crazy is I went and did the FL during Aug and Sept. I have a pretty good deal with the guy I run for. He pretty much lets me do whatever I want and I just pay him for authority and his trailer.

3 percent more running your own authority or was that a typo?

Hauling Liquor is profitable too. (im just say)

As for running short haul, obviously some lanes will pay better...myself generated +323K last year. (short to med. length hauling...no long haul crap)

Unfortunately not. I'm very new to this, but my current person I'm leased onto has insisted I get my own authority by the end of the year. We Gross about 320k a year on avg So I'll only get about 9600 more. Just enough to cover the extra costs of maintaining the authority not including all the extra labor and start up costs, but it will open me up to a plethora of new opportunities as our current gig is only 2-4 days a week.

How'd you like that Florida deal? Also why pay to use his authority and trailer? I'd love to buy my own trailer and will have my authority soon, but current boss insists we pull his trailer and I'm not confident I could find work with a cattlepot on my own year round.

Seems like the low percentage for their authority is worth the high percentage for their trailer rental. I'd stall.
