I am starting my training with my first company. Kllm they pull mostly reefers. I've been considering doing flatbed after my first year. I've always been interested in flatbed and I have a lot of companies within an hours drive. Im right down the road from Cuba and McElroy. Also I am close to wti in tuscaloosa, howard in laurel and a few others in Birmingham area. I have two uncles that have done flatbed and said they'd never do it again then my other uncle told me he loved it. Whats yalls take on flatbed and possibly making the switch after getting a little experience

Why not just do flatbed first? If you're dead set on company training there's much better companies to choose from in flatbed.

Im under the age limit for most companies that train unless you can think of some that hire and train at 21 with me not having my cdl

@Chinatown
There also many better options then mega company training. You gotta go out and knock on doors to find them though. Going to school yourself is also better. A lot of companies will reimburse you for your tuition and or lots of financial assistance to pay for it. Look up Mike rows skilled workers program. They might help.RERM Thanks this. -
I can't do the dang school training because I can't pay it or afford it

How much is school at the local community college?

Wow. 1200 here.
peterbilt_2005 and KenworthGuyNH Thank this. -
@Drpparker95 have you checked out if you are eligible for school grants? Also school loans if you are not eligible for grants too. Honestly going thru your local community college would be best bet then you are not contracted for 1 year to an outfit you might end up hating.

No way to save up until you can go?
