Trianing will not control stupid or lazy people either, but if you don't have the knowledge to begin with, there is not much hope of a driver doing it right. I think there should be an endorsement and company training, that is the way I did it.

Remember when America was a place where idiots didn't control your everyday life?

    I do....and it was nice!

Now we have all of these tools that want to sit here and be regulated out of existince in the name of safety....All an endorsement will prove is that you know how to read a book and pass a test that is geared to the lowest common denominator among us.

What a bunch of ######' sheep!

Tank freight on an open deck trailers consists of less than a quarter of 1 percent of all deck freight so your point is really a moot one.

The driver in the video would require a "doubles" endorsement.

"an endorsement to haul chemicals in an enclosed trailer" - ???

Are you talking about a CDL endorsement? Isn't that what the HM endorsement is for?

If it is a "transportation" tank with a capacity over 1000 gallons would need a tank endorsement, loaded or empty, HM or not.

[IMG]So your saying if I had this RR container tanker on a flatbed, clean, empty, minus the placards I would still have to have my tank endorsement?
[IMG]But with this tank I dont have to have an endorsement?

If the tank is being hauled as a piece of freight and is empty, You do not need a tanker endorsement. If the tank is loaded with anything then you would be required to have a tanker endorsement.
If it has a capacity of more than 1000 gallons you're required to have the endorsement even if the tank only has say 50 gallons in it.

We haul empty tanks a lot and have been questioned by some of the geniuses at the P.O.E.'s and have had to prove to them that they were wrong...They HATE that!

I haul 500 gallon totes of chemicals on a regular basis. I can do this legally with a hazmat endorsement but I have to have a tank endorsement to pull a tanker with the same chemical in it.
