Hello.. I have a quick question about flatbed cargo insurance. When I was running a reefer we carried $100,000 cargo coverage. But when it comes to flatbed, one piece of equipment itself may be half million. But these are far and few between... what questions or what should I expect when I speak with the insurance company?
Thanks for reading.

100,000 is common for flatbeds as well..
If you just need more coverage for a specific load occasionally, then you would call them at that time with the details and work that out..
Usually with brokers loads of that caliber are going to be considered specialized though, where higher minimum requirements are a given..
Anything else he asks just tell him not to worry about it..Turn3 Thanks this. -
Just make sure the owner of the cargo has certificate from your insurance company showing the additional amount of coverage, and that the client is the additional named insured and/or the loss payee. The cert will say something like "for trip from New York to Los Angeles starting on 1/1/10 and ending on 1/5/10 ABC Inc is an additional named insured and a loss payee. Motor Truck limit $1,000,000" Its always a few more bucks, but its better than losing your truck and home.
