Can’t comment on reefer wouldn’t go near it!! I’m also not going to get into actual rates but dat is pretty close to the average some do better some should jump off a cliff literally!!! As far equipment that will depend on what type of trailer you plan on pulling and what type of open deck freight you plan on pulling!! If you pulling a step with ramps you should carry a little different setup than a guy pulling a flat!! A good start for either is 10 5/16 grade 70 20ft chains and same number of binders!! Depending on the rating of the type trailer you are pulling you can go up to 3/8’s if you pulling a step but in my opinion not worth it!! At least ten four in straps of at least 30ft or longer some type of portables either ratchet or stake pocket I would have at least four!! Two inch ratchets and binders come in very handy if you plan on hauling vehicles I would have at least 12 and wheel baskets as well!! A winch bar some red flags two oversize flags unless you don’t think you are ready but it’s cheaper than buying on the road when you do decide you wanna haul one or can haul one!! Last is tarps and bungees two boxes of 21in bungees should work tarps if you plan on doing a lot of steel some four footers by 24 or better yet 27 is best and a set of 8fters same length you can add a smoke tarp or coil tarp at a later date if you like you can also skip the 8footers and turn the steel tarps sideways but I promise you won’t do it often!!

I would add bungee rope/shock cord, enough to do a full tarp job on a lumber load, just makes it little less of a pain.

Speaking of flatbed equipment......
I want everyone who moves flatbed freight to read this...
Im going to Prove to everyone their is Nooooooooooo Shortage of Drivers or Trucks..
The Owens-Corning Plant Up in Brentwood,New Hampshire Will NOT load your Flatbed anymore Unless you Have 12 8 foot long edge protectors.......
Yes,That Means you have to have 2by4 by 8 foot long wood style edging made by yourself or some lumber yard- because Vboards and the Likes are only 4 foot long.
Point is- Not many Guys Carry that...I Sure the Heck dont.I Go there and they will NOT load your truck!! So I Give them the third Degree...
"Why wasn't I Notified of This?" They Tell me corporate in Toledo was to Inform All carriers of the Change-
So, Point being- Youre Not Needed- Too many other Trucks Ready and Waiting- Proof right here.
Oh,The Product thats made there is Boxed Rolled Roofing PaperD.Tibbitt Thanks this. -
Anytime I've seen loads out of that place listed, they are so cheap not sure how anyone even hauls out of there.D.Tibbitt, Cat sdp and stayinback Thank this.

I Work Directly for Corning...
Yeah, If you only Knew what the Brokers do Up there......The Promises- The Vulturism. Corning Cares who is moving their product.
They Have a Strict policy now for Picking up their Products........ -
Ya, on top of the low rate the ones I generally see listed are 4 foot tarped going to Florida.
I dont mind hauling for Owen's Corning just not that location. -
Their trying to get rid of 40ish loads a month to south Florida.....I can only imagine the rate....
And you need 8’ drop tarps because they double stack the stuff....JonJon78 Thanks this. -
Im going to do you a huge solid right now.........
Just to Give you an idea what goes on out of brentwood Corning.
The Brokers have been known to take 50% of Billed revenue to Owens corning
The Loads you see going to Florida (Fort Myers-Miami Dade) Pay Very Well- Believe Me.
I Move their Stuff back to the Midwest For Good money- They Failed to Alert me of their corporate Changes......... But,Other Suckers-I Mean Truckers Go in their with a Volvo,An Accent,And a Broker taking their money with their edgeing.JonJon78 Thanks this. -
That’s dumb for a few reasons. Maybe they are trying to set it up for carriers to pay for shingles they have problems with and can’t sell? You don’t stack shingles 2 high while in transit, and no more than 2 high in the yard; especially when it’s hot out...... when I was 14 my first job was restacking 3 trailer loads of shingles some one stacked 3 pallets high on a 90° day. “Pickup sticks” but with bundles of shingles. Solo style. They learned me good.stwik and johndeere4020 Thank this. -
I hauled about 6 loads of rolled roofing. Every single one was double stacked on my trailer.
I’m with you @Ruthless but that’s how they were all loaded. Don’t think I’ve ever seen a truck just single stacked?
