Is going into flatbed right out of school a good or bad idea(for the companies that will hire new)? I know the physical labor involved, but are there many cons to it given Im a "newbie"? Thanks for the replys..

You will be fine. The way I see it, you can either drive or you can't. Doesn't matter what kind of wagon you pull. If you want to skateboard, go ahead and start shredding right from jump street.

No problem! Find a company or someone to show you the ropes on proper load handling & chain down and go to town!

Let me know how it goes. Thats my plan when I get my Class A. I think as long as you have the want to you can do anything. Just learn as much as you can and be carefull. Good luck!!

Yes it does matter What trailer you pull and what is on it !! That attitude is why you see coils break loose and roll right through the cab and kill the driver

I pulled a Trailmobile Eagle with a 10 ft spread between the axles. You can't get them overweight if you are under 80,000. Can't go to Canada either which to me was great. See my pic? Thats 2 coils of aluminum on end. Our safety man said "If you wreck and have chains left in the rack, you'll pay. If all your chains are on the load, I'll pay." Make sure you never load a stack of pipe in a triangle shape, leave 1 off the top and wrap straps around it to hold it together. Carry a good camera, just when you think you've seen it all, you haven't! There's no good in an evil hearted woman.

We are all time travelers moving at the speed of exactly 60 minutes per hour

You get double points your first year for violations and flatbed has alot out in the open to inspect. Just something to be aware of, but I wouldn't worry much about it.

and being able to secure a load doesn't indicate that you can drive, does it amigo? This person asked whether not not he would be okay to start his driving career in a skateboard. Do you have a valid reason why he should not?
