Ok as you all know i pull a van and am SERIOUSLY considering switching to our FB devision, to pull a Step Deck.
And one question i have is, how do you log loading and unloading?
With vans a reefers we just log 15 min to load and 15 min to unload. But with haveing to strap/Chain and possibly tarp your load...i cant imagin a DOT guy buying that you did all that in 15 minutes.
Im just trying to figure out how many hours im going to lose since our FB devision doesnt pay anymore per mile then the van side, i just want to make sure im not going to go from $900/wk to $500/wk
Thanks!

Just as you are SUPPOSED to do in a van (or any other type of trailer)...you are supposed to log the actual length of time it takes you to load or unload. Anything less is falsification.Brickman Thanks this. -
WS has a flat bed division? When did this start???
I'm surprised a DOT hasn't laughed at you for only logging 15 minutes to load or unload a van. Trust me, they aren't stupid!Brickman Thanks this. -
30 min to 1 hr all depends on the load

you can i used to just mark 30min . anything less might raise a flag. but when i hauled coils i was loaded chained and rollin in 15 min it all depends on what your haulin.
aggie1978 and American-Trucker Thank this. -
yep hauling coils I log 15 but if you get 4,6,8 coils a just accordinglyAmerican-Trucker and nuts&bolts123 Thank this. -
yes aggie i agree im talking singles in 15 min,.

might lose some time logging for securing and tarping (30min-60min), but you won't lose as much of your 14 hours to off duty time waiting to be loaded/unloaded.
American-Trucker Thanks this.
