I work for a flatbed company. We may tarp five loads this week and none for the next two weeks. How long have you been driving?

I drive for BTC 2 out of 4 tarped this week, and we get paid $25 to tarp. Like the last poster said it varies from week to week no real why to say a set number...

We tarp on average 75% of our loads, at $40 a load.

4 or 5 times a week, $150 a week or so, but varies with season, load and length of run.

I try not to get tarped loads if at all possible....Some loads really don't need tarping but brokers like Meadowlark as an example will require tarps on loads to "please" their customers....Even if the load doesn't require tarping....

As an example of that....I used to load out of Portland Steel....Mainly plate....Every load was supposed to be tarped....I did what Meadowlark wanted and each and every time I got to the receiver...they gave me grief because I tarped their loads......

I explained that to the agents and they told me to ignore the receivers and tarp the loads....

Don't know this for a fact, but after doing some reading concerning different companies freight charges, it almost looks like it is just another way for the company to make money. The company charges say $120, gives $40 to the driver and pockets the rest.
