Flatbed rates i was quoted today

Come on now guys, its not that bad dealing with one of these Mechanical RGNs. I would like a hydro one but hey I have to start somewhere and we dont have any hydro ones. I would say having anything more then a 2 axle RGN I would for sure want a hydro neck. Put enough weight on these things and I can only imagine how hard it is trying to get back under it!

Man, the rates have really tanked here in S. Ga..
I see lds. posted and some have the amounts.
Also called on some and they want you to haul permit lds. and allmost max weight for van rates..Like 2.50 a mile and that is also to pay for permits...
Had one ld. I called about Fri. morning. Also one of my friends called about the same time. He's down in Wildwood. did'nt know he was calling also.
So we are told 6700.00 Ok, i'll take it. going back to Ia. About the same for what I came down for..
He got the ld. because he called first. No biggie.
Then he gets the call that another broker beat the bid. So he loses the ld..
I then see the same ld. posted by a different broker for get this 3750.00 all in..
I call and ask is this the ld. going to centeral Ia. yep. I then ask why is the rate crap.
This guy has the balls to tell me that he knows that people will haul it for that and I explain that we had called earlier about it and the rate was 6700.
He halls the balls to tell me that was way to much..I said ok. Hope you get it moved..
He calls me like 30 mins. later. Can you run Canada? Well depends why?
I need a rate for a ld. I'm thinking this guy has balls and just plain stupid.
So I get the info and find out permit costs.. I figure it out and give him a rate just under 10.00 a mile. Not wide just heavy..
Hoping he would choke when I called him back.Well he says that was close to what he had got from another carrier..Told him rate was only good for 5 days.
Then he calls right at 5pm. Hey no answer yet on the Cananda ld.,but can we work something out for Ia. Yep 6400.00 I tell him. He freaks..
Offers 5200.00. No I can't and won't go that cheap. Being polite the whole time..
Not sure if he got the ld. moved yet or not.
Will see what happens Monday. It has a certain ld. window. Might be fun....

 

Be nice if they would make it illegal to double broker a load.

 

The joys of dealing with a broker. I am so glad I am a company driver, I let the office people deal with the politics. I just move the stuff.

 

My buddy caught a guy double brokering lds. Fri.
They posted 5k from Tn. to Mt. for D8 with blade and rippers.. 12' 11" wide.
We were talking about it being dirt cheap. I then said another guy had the lds. posted, but no numbers. He calls. 10k still cheap. So he tells this guy about the other broker posting them for 5k. He flips out..
Would of loved to hear that call.
Plus MRE code has a partial posted for 1000. I knew another broker had same deal posted. Called her. Was her ld. so she said. Was offering 1350.00
She was not happy either
