Utility trailer. Combo. 48x102
Another truck rear-ended it and luckily he escaped without injuries.
Question is, can this be repaired properly. It is my opinion that the impact was severe enough to bend the main steel beam in the rear. Discussing options with insurance soon.

I would not fix it even if it could. Your looking at deck sections new dot bar and frame repair. plus wheels and tires alignment and other misc items to attend to....
blanco Thanks this. -
yes i would say replace the axle as well it would all depend on the price to fix over replace the trl the dot bumper is not that expensive to replace and a new axle is around $1000 but the labor to cut out the bad parts and put in new will be high
cetanediesel and blanco Thank this. -
Anything can be FIXED if there is enough $ , however it will initially be insurance company that decides if it will be fixed or written off.
The Challenger and blanco Thank this. -
If the insurance company is going to replace it then I would do that. Even if it is fixed properly and you won't know the end bill until it comes you still have a trailer that has taken a major impact. There could be other places that were stressed further up the trailer that might not be evident now but could show itself in a few years when the insurance will not help you.
How old is the trailer, looking quickly on truckpaper a new one is about $30k, I see the repair bill getting up there when it is all said and done especially when you factor in the down time. There are probably dozens you could pull off the lot tomorrow across the US. -
Best thing is to do,is hope they total it..
Even if fixed it might never be right -
What is the value of the trailer? Typically if the cost to repair + your downtime or rental of another trailer equal 60% or greater they will go ahead and total it out and give you the check. More than likely they would take your damaged trailer and get the salvage value from it. Let us know how it turns out.
