Hi guys,
How hard is it to get flat 'team' loads?? I ask because I've heard many say it isn't really a good idea as most loading/unloading sites are opened during regular business hours. Is it possible then to run a FLAT TEAM off LoadBoards???
I don't have any experience with flat teams...that's the reason I'm asking.
Also what are some good load-boards for getting FLAT loads??

There is not a lot of flatbed work that requires teams. If you find a flatbed load requiring a team, you will probably get a nice premium because there are not a lot of flatbed teams out there. They will be few and far between. Rates for long loads are also not as great as rates for 0-700 miles. Lots of the bigger companies like long loads because they think they create better utilization. If you are relying on load boards, I would come up with a different business plan. The long loads on load boards seem to pay even worse.joker760 Thanks this.

LS has quite a few flatbed teams loads actually. Run CA to the east-coast and back from what I've seen and #### good rates too for expedited runs. Mainly hauling containers, so I'd suggest using a stepdeck with can-locks. Might not sound too interesting, but the rates are usually $3+ mile.... If I could trust someone else to drive while I slept, I'd consider it, but I have control issues and don;t trust anyone but my father to drive me down the road.

i don't get a nice premium for driving team loads.
the nice thing about team. is two people can tarp and untarp at the snap of a finger. two people are really nice to have in the southern heat.
another nice thing is that could haul almost twice the loads during the week.
if i were to do team. it would have to be lady though. lots of guys are pigs and abusive on the equipment. and i've been down that road before. won't do it again.joker760 Thanks this. -

My wife and I run a team flatbed and do pretty good with it.The truck doesn't always have a "hot team load" on it but we just fill in with regular loads. Nothing wrong with loading a 1400 mile load and delivering the next day.

3.00 a mile out of California on containers ? Are you sure about that I was with mercer and we never saw any 3 dollar a mile containers.

I was wondering about that rate myself.

Yep, everytime I've been in Los Angeles there are a few container, high value loads going to NJ paying over $3 mile to the truck. They are team only runs... on the LS board every week.

Then those loads are about $2.25 in the real world.$3.00 in Landstar world.
