Long story short, my body is telling me to get out of flatbed. It's the only thing I've done in the 4+ years I've had my CDL. Same company. Has anyone out there made the switch from flatbed?
One thing I'm wondering is if I should jump right into line haul or take it slower and apply for a "driver trainee" or something. Maybe to get my backing up to snuff. But, would a trainee job set me too far down the pay scale for a guy with 4 years driving experience and a relatively clean record?
Flatbed to LTL, my body is telling me it's time.

@ibcalm19 is right there’s no need to take 2 steps back to take 1 forward. They might not even let you apply as “driver trainee” with that much experience. If you’re wanting to do linehaul you’re gonna hafta learn to break and hook sets and back up pups and converter dollies, which is a whole different learning curve in itself anyway. Go for it now is my vote man.

Why not switch to hazmat fuel delivery .. i am thinking about it to have more home time ... Talked to some guys in the field and everyone is happy ... I think its just harder to be independent o/o there

It sounds like most companies would train you in on that stuff even if you sign up for line haul off the bat?motocross25 Thanks this.
