    So I been doing general flatbed stuff for couple of years, considering buying an rgn and doing oversized. The money seems alot better per mile, but do you end up making about the same per year because of all the restrictions, very little night driving and other stuff that comes along with it. Anyone done both with a little advice?
    Thanks!

    Lepton1 Thanks this.

    Following.

    I'm considering the next step as well. For me I think a step deck might be the logical choice. I don't have experience running equipment that would need to be driven onto the deck.

    Step decks kinda interest me as well, maybe get one with load levelers and be more versatile. I just always see rgn rates from 4-6 bucks a miles and it's hard to not consider it.

    Most places you need to load oversize rolling equipment. Shippers load, receivers unload.. sometimes when delivering to a port the driver needs to unload.

    Oversize has been better paying loads for me.
    Just remember.. in my view... There is no such thing as an oversized partial load.

    Study the rules, every state has a website to access those rules.
    Good luck.

    Lepton1 and Hayfieldmn Thank this.

    Right now dry box rates are darn near 4 a mile in the northeast. I wouldn't touch a rgn for 4 a mile. Os/od buying permits and blah blah blah will cut your rates right down the toilet

    @TripleSix will tell ya
