Hello ya'll. I have 5 months till my contract with the Army is up. I plan to get my CDL when I get out. More than likely I will be driving with Maverick when I get out. I just want some advice on their Flatbed Division and their TCD.

Well, you've definitely come to the right place. I can answer any TCD questions you have, and there are lots of flatbed guys on here too. Fire away and we'll answer as best we can!

With the TCD. What is the policy on trailer inside washing?

You can get an inside trailer wash anytime it needs it. Maverick holds an account with Blue Beacon, or will issue a Comchek for other trailer wash locations. In general, if you need it in the normal course of business, Maverick pays for it.

I can give you my humble opinion, in general. Not specific to Maverick....IMHO reefer sucks. Flatbed is the way to go. I have 20 years driving, all but 10 months is flatbed. 10 months reefer was all I could stand. Of course, it could have been the company I was with, but after getting all my horror stories "ditto'd" by other drivers at other companies over the years, I think it is all reefer. Gate fees, Dock fees, Lumper fees, Tight appt schedules...etc etc etc.

Ah true, and for jxu, how often do you have to tarp? I know back when I was home last, I saw a few maverick trailers that were not tarped. Is tarping mandatory?

I suppose it all depends on each person's perspective... You couldn't pay me enough to do flatbed lol, I'm not getting out in -10 degree weather and dragging a 120 lb tarp in 40 mph winds for only $25.

But, then again, I don't mind tight schedules and I don't mind the waiting times, I can always keep myself busy with my laptop or iPad. I know there are guys out there that can't stand running less than 600 miles per day, but I'm pretty happy with my paycheck only running an average of 350 - 400 per day.

Overall, it's a choice that each person has to make for themselves about what they want out of the career.

Ya I really do not care about home time anyway, I do not have kids or a wife to support lol and also cap is right, tarping in 90 degree heat or -10 with gusts of wind yeah i dont think so lol
