Don't want to L/P a trailer right now. Prefer stepdeck and moving machinery, less tarping. Doesn't have to be O/S just have experience and if you do steps it's going to come up.

Talk with Cpape, they might be taking trucks.
He posts here from time to time and his brother JDP.
They are in Dubuque,Ia. mainly haul tractors and steel and such..

Not sure you can lease on to Landstar right out of the gate pulling platform, even with previous experience. Good place to be for platform, just have to prove yourself I guess.

You can lease onto Landstar and start pulling platforms. I did over a year ago and have been very happy since. Not sure where Morrison is located, but I live outside of Chicago and have plenty of freight to choose from. 2 weeks out is very doable, but like anywhere, machinery is cheap stuff to haul. There's plenty of no tarp loads, but if all you want to do is machinery you might want to look elsewhere.

Also, Art Pape Transfer (cpape's company) is located in Dubuque, IA and mainly hauls John Deere equipment out of the area and they bring back plate steel, beams, skidded coils and other things back. His guys seem pretty happy and they get good rates as they are a primary carrier for JD.
