Anyway of you flatbedders ever delivered to Precision Strip in Talladega, AL? A couple weeks back I was delivering a coil down there from Pro-Tec in Leipsic, OH. Delivery appointment was set for 10:00 pm. I get there at 9:15 pm and go to check in only to find the entire staff playing poker. Lol. Apparently it was break time. Anyways, I didn't get out of there until 1:30 am. Am I the only one who gas been in a bind there?

When I pulled covered wagon I ran out of the Middletown, OH Percision Strip plant daily. They were worthless most days, but once in a while they would actually work. The Kenton, Oh branch was notorious for sending a lot of trucks to unload/load in 2 0r 3 doors while the others sat empty. Honestly, I don't think I have been to a Percision Strip plant that was always good no matter how many times I visisted them.

I noticed the same thing about Kenton so I haven't been there in a while. I've also heard that AL is horrible but I also heard it could be because PSI was using more O/O's and less company drivers to haul down there and it pissed the PSI employees off so they screw them around.

I haven't talked to anyone who didn't say that company went downhill as soon Jack Eiting sold it to Reliance Steel. However I would retire too if someone offered me $220M

MIddletown was horrible years ago when Robing was working the office. She would get BSing with her buddies and the trucks would pile 5 deep in the lot. Then night shift got even more pissy when they saw the 40+ trucks in the yard. Honestly, I don't miss AK, Percision Strip, GM, RSDC, or many of the other places I ran in and out of hauling steel. Lately I'm having more fun running reefer and making 2 times the money.

A lot of hard work and years that earn you a reputation of being the "go to guy" when something has to get done. It is that simple, but many don't want to put in the work or years.

I know what you mean. A lot of guys won't do multi-stop deliveries. We did them with lumber for 15+ yrs but it was hard finding drivers to do the job but once you got the hang of it it's easy.

The reasons I like hauling steel is its a 24hr business. I can work whenever I want and it helps I have a hookup for the good loads. Once you learn to work the system it's not bad. I feel sorry for the normal guys that try to make it hauling the dumpster loads.

As a company driver being paid mileage, I haul whatever they tell me to haha. Sure I get the dumpster loads every now and again :)

I actually own a truck that is paid for but I don't feel like im ready to go O/O yet.
