Flatbedding and The Oncoming Recession??

Not all flatbed freight slows down this time of year. Some commodities, such als JLG lifts, CAT parts, mining equipment, crane parts etc pick up this time of year. Building materials might have slowed down. I haven't seen any cuts in pay, just different stuff on the trailer...... If a recession hits it doesn't matter what trailer you pull. It will all slow down. At least with a flat you can always haul containers. Cheap and heavy, but still better than nothing. MT Flats are ugly. Good luck.

 

As a truck tire salesmen I deal with a lot of flat bed companys the smaller guys are starting to hurt there keeping all there trucks running but freight is harder to find to keep them running. Now my bigger flat bed accounts are still gonning strong and don't see any sign of let up

PS Gonning to start my cdl schooling in march and after that plan on flat bedding myself (can't wait)

 

Flatbeds are always the first to go into a recession and the first to pull out, and it started to slow down about july. Flatbeds alway slowdown somewhat between thanksgiving and valentines day. If it was me I would wait until feb or march before starting a flatbed job. Yes there is always equipment to haul but you also have alot more trucks competing for less freight and thats never a good thing.
