I have a 98 century with a n14. I recently put new batteries, a new starter (mt39) And now I new firewall solenoid. I have a no crank situation that was not there before. I’m not sure if I blew a fuse Or if there’s a relay in the fuse block somewhere related. It cranks right up with a screwdriver on the solenoid or if I send power to the signal wire on the solenoid.
I’m having difficulty tracing from the ignition switch to the signal wire on that solenoid. I’m just not sure where it goes from there and why I’m not getting power through it. I believe the center wire in the ignition switch is the one that sends the power out, but it just doesn’t make it to the signal wire. Does anyone have any ideas? Thank you so much! I’ve been down for a week.

How about a pic of the starter, in particular how you've wired the relay on top of the solenoid.

I’ll go take one, but I switched from the original MT 42 Direct Drive starter to the newer MT 39 gear reduction. it works perfectly when I cross over the firewall solenoid with a screwdriver or send power through the signal wire.

    Big Road Skateboard Thanks this.

Ok. Nevermind the pic then. Have you checked the line of circuit breakers in the fuse panel?

I'm reading your post as it was fine until you changed batteries and starter. Correct?

Yes, correct. Full disclosure I did accidentally arc a battery cable during the swap. Other than that everything went really smooth. I just don’t know if there is possibly a smaller relay on the fuse panel or a fuse that could be angry because of that. I did check continuity of every ignition/ECM fuse. I could find

no I have not. I have fuses under the passenger dash and then a few more on the wall behind the driver seat

Gotcha, sorry, I read FLD, and now see it's Century.

I don't remember any other fuses, but it's been a long time since I looked at a Century class diagram.

Check all the fuses with the key on, don't just look for ones associated with the starter.

Hopefully someone can find a wiring diagram . I remember those having terminal issues behind the pass side kick panel harnesses, but I'm not sure starter signal goes through there.

You are getting 12v on the switch in the start position? Usually the signal terminal will be marked with an S
