Ok making sure because the front damper was wobbling and ran like that for about 4-6 months before replaced. The last mechanic that replaced the housing said there is a crack on the back of the block. I wanted to be on the safe side and ask

No it doesn’t have one but I’m wanting to put one in to be safe.

It actually is possible to run with a broken crank believe it or not. Seen a C-13 in a rock truck drive into the shop with a broken crankshaft. Actually didn't sound too bad apart from a clunk when accelerating/decelerating.

Have seen more than one Mack EM6-237 engine in R Models owned by a bridge constuction company, come into the dealership for a clucking noise, (broken crankshaft), only to leave to unload and bring it back in a day or so to be repaired. Tough "Old Arn".

Back when I first started servicing trucks we had a Mack come in and the oil was coming out slow. So after it finished I stuck my finger in the hole to figure out why. There was a huge chunk of metal in the pan. I called the owner and he said "yeah I know. It's been like that for years".

It was also not uncommon at the time, after removing drain plug, to use a screwdriver or such to jab a hole in the goo in the bottom of the oil pan to allow oil to flow. Stuff would stain worse than gloss black paint. Have never seen nastier engines than some of those.

I should have said unlikely to be running with a broken crankshaft. I have heard of that but never seen it with my own eyes so I was kinda skeptical…
Ok it ran but only for 30 seconds lol. But apparently they can last a while from what several guys have said
