Kind of a longshot but does anyone know what the little black inserts are called that slide into the screw holes in the FLD dash panels. They act as a flanged bushing and have the flared out top on them to distribute the force of the screw head so they don't pull through. I could use washers but if I could find these that would be good. Tried looking at Freightliners dash diagram but couldn't find them. Was lazy and had a shop do some work on my truck and lost most of them :(

    They are called tinnerman clips.

Freightliner should be able to get them for you. If not, tinnerman Clips are available online and I think even at Advance Auto Parts and places like that.

Thanks, the things I'm talking about look something like this except more of a rounded flange. Most of the screw holes have them. Helps center the screw head and prevents them sinking through. Probably helps with rattles as well.

Yes. Freightliner should have them. They also used them with the 1/4 thread torx head bolts to hold on a lot of grilles before they went to those expandable rubber ones.

Well that is not what I was thinking.
Do they have a part number on them like that one does? I’ve been told by the dealerships around here that if they are out of it in stock they get some things from Fastenal.

    Derailed and 650cat425 Thank this.

Fastenal was going to be my next stop. We looked at the exploded diagram of the dash and couldn't find them. Should be able to find something close

Call your parts guy at Freightliner and send him a photo of that. If he can't find it Fastenal is an option but they'll probably make you buy like a hundred at a Time if you can find them.

You could look online at McMaster-Carr, they have a lot of different things.

I'm curious what part of the dash that they go on to. All of my gauge and switch panels use regular tinnerman clips.

That's called a plastic grommet, they make different types with closed end or small holes for the screws and they make in metal.

The tinnerman clips are used for the dash to secure the panel, the panel itself has the grommets or centering washers to keep the screw centered.

The ones on my dash are metal. Only used on Rosewood dash, not standard dashes.
