Me is idling 800 rpm on S60 all the time, no matter the subzero, just cover the grill. It is just a sweet spot for smoothest sleep.

I do run additives to keep injectors clean though.

Coolant is going out the stack. You hit on something that my inexperienced self never noticed. The fan does stay on all the time. While researching I also found an old thread about the wrong fan clutch being installed. I’m off for a few days So tomorrow I’m going to Freightliner to get numbers and see if I even have the right stuff on there. It’s still chugging along so I’m not worried. Got a heater for when I’m parked. All is good. Still have good running temps.

Maybe Friday they will tell me new engine will ship next week……..

7D4F997E-BB69-49D6-86DA-2EECF3F5CA0B.jpeg Good luck with the part #s. I had no luck myself. I learned there’s a lot of #s, that are all the same fan. Friend of mine just got one from Freightliner for his 99. $900 or $1100? I even called Horton, they said I had a rare fan, and would need to have one built, 7-8 weeks. Lol. After researching, I found the same fan, at least 10 different part #s. I bought one once from Truckpro. The fan ended up about an inch further from radiator than original. Otherwise it was the same. I got my current fan from a Junk yard. About 7 yrs ago. It was rebuilt, but sat on the shelf for years. I put a mini kit in it after about a year. I rebuilt it a couple yrs ago, with the Kitmasters brand kit. About $575. Freightliner had the new Horton quick kits, but needed to be ordered. They were cheaper, and probably better. Check them out. Horton Quick Kit. Clutch comes assembled, makes it much easier to rebuild. Step by step instructions makes it fairly easy to rebuild.

Yes I read your post about this. With my luck it will be something odd. Had a bolt break break on the alternator bracket. It worked its way out and smoothed down a ribbed belt. Gotta fix that as well.

Hopefully the new engine will have a good front cover, and you won’t keep breaking bolts. If the brackets wore down, best to get a new one. Less than $275.

The front cover is addressed on the new engine. I remembered you also posting about this and asked the builder lol.

I’ll take a good look at bracket. Its going to be 32 today so I’ll probably wear shorts.

This pad mount bracket with Sanden compressor fairs better. Still breaks bolts though, if it ever gets loose, and wallows out the holes. The 2002 upgrade is best. I’ve never seen one. Would also need the proper front? or rear? cover. Note the 4 extra bolts. These were on eBay. I had to get the $238 one.

Is this part of the swap from v belt to serpentine? Or is it just a better upgrade?

Make sure that you keep the coolant completely filled.

If your coolant level is low you will not get heat.

Yes it always filled. Heat when rolling. No heat while sitting. As I said, the thermostats fixed the heat while rolling issue. Maybe the fan constantly running while parked is why there is no heat while sitting. Either way it will be over soon enough.
