I was just wanting to know anyone experiences with Fleet Air Filters vs KNN Air filters . Is one better than the other or they about the same? I did notice that the KNN is cheaper and it doesn't have to be oiled. What's your thoughts?![]()

Why did you post this in Report A BAD Trucking Company Here?
KNN? Did you mean K&N?Lonesome Thanks this. -
Cuz its the first forum on the list... doesn't reflect favorably on our priorities to want to complain first.
Think Id just run a quality paper filter, say Donaldson, Baldwin, or Fleetguard, and change it out every six months or so. Either way Id get a quality vacuum gauge plumbed into the intake between the air filter and turbo to read filter restricton, I don't trust the "pop up" style gauges. -
A guy I work with has a a couple of issues with his Fleet Air Filter seal, customer service was excellant in his opinion. I chose K&N was sent the wrong filter in the correct box (QC) fixed it immediatly no worries since. doesnt seem to be a lot of performance difference between the two. His 500 Detroit picked up 3/10s my 475Acert only picked uo 2/10s but mine picked up a little boost.

I have been using a Fleet Air Filter for almost a year on my Detroit 60 in a Columbia. Seems to be pretty good. No spikes in silicon (dirt) on the used oil samples, so it must be cleaning the air ok. Pretty easy to clean and re-oil when needed. I do it around 40,000 miles. Truck is averaging in the mid 7's on fuel mileage. Sure can hear the turbo spool up. As for a comparison, I have no clue about the K&N. Some folks at another forum were complaining that the silicon (dirt) level in their oils samples went up somewhat. But without knowing first hand what they are doing, it may not be the K&N filter's fault, so I am not going to rush to judgement that K&N is a worse filter. No matter what you try, make sure you monitor things. If you start getting high silicon levels in used oil samples, then get the filter out of there and go back to stock. Silicon (dirt) is an engine killer.
