Also. I was not able to get under an 80k load when it was centered on my deck. Had to move it to the rear and then I was able to get under it. I think @Oxbow had mentioned that sometimes getting under it will shoot you out like a canon…might have happened once or twice to me this morning. Good thing was I had the Kenworth, tires did not spin at all! And driving it was very controlled. Didn’t matter the landscape had plenty of torque to keep speed consistent. Started driving slower because mpg went down to 3.6 per gallon!

Haven’t had a chance to check empty weight but it will be about 60k. Another driver has the same Kenworth but a manual and he has a 4 axle globe trailer his empty is 64500.
-

Load was a crusher weight according to shipper was 80k. I wasn’t able to use cat scale. They said I was too heavy.
-

Max I will ever be able to load is 80k and some states that give me 22k per axle like Illinois more so. With total gross between 140k and 146k Empty would be roughly 60k. I have a stretch trailer. Will look into the steer axle dilemma. So far I can’t even weigh it with a heavy load at a cat scale.
I can’t see me lifting that flip box without extreme ramps.

You better find out what the actual weight of that machine is. The only time I ever had a CAT scale tell me I was too heavy was when I tried to weigh almost 200K at once on a super short 9 axle setup. They can do 140+ no problem.

Just pay for 2 scale tickets. First one put the steers on the drives platform and the drives on trailer platform to keep the trailer off the scale. Then do a reweigh and put the trailer axles on the drive platform with the tractor off the scale.

Just don't set your tractor brakes. Use the trailer brakes only when weighing. Also go get that #### turned off at the nearest dealer. No reason to lift when you set the brakes.beastr123, AFC, Landincoldfire and 4 others Thank this.

Over 65,000 the drive platform won’t read. I imagine he’s over 65,000 on his drives. You can roll your pusher onto the steer platform and split weighLast edited: Oct 30, 2025 at 5:43 AM

Thanks for this info. I didn’t know that you could turn that off. I’ll have the company. I’m lease on to do that next time. I’m there. Possibly it was a new employee at a brand new kwik trip and Wisconsin. I figured that would be the procedure to scale it. I’m good and with the weight at least in Illinois I just went through a scale and Joliet and they had me bring in my permit and they said I’m good to go. I did not try to push my luck and ask him what my total weight was. see picture below for #### and giggles
