Flip Neck Box Mechanical RGN Question:

    Thank you. Please keep financing and timing in mind. I would have to keep my current truck for a year to open up these possibilities. Whereas the company I’m with would offer flexible financing like accept a small down payment and then accept the remainder when I sell my current truck. I am little nervous keeping my current truck with the loads I’m doing: I’ve tossed a bunch of money at it and it won’t increase its value any. I could probably lease a truck while I sell my current truck but that lease truck won’t have ramps maybe no over size lights.

    My trailer is 45 ton max. So 130-140 gross max. Are you sure about my trailer’s neck swing? I will measure it later. I’m currently bob tailed to a Loves and having them replace my AC Hose that was damaged by them.

    Your max trailer weight has zero to do with what you can scale. And no I am not sure, but those are common neck lengths on a mechanical detach.

    My trailers neck swing is just 84 inches and the flip neck is 36 inches but I’m not sure how much more clearance that will give me without further research. IMG_9157.jpeg

    The reason it didn’t increase my steer weight was because I didn’t slide my fifth wheel. You are right on both counts of what a flip neck does. And I will add another count for you that you mentioned: it also gives you more neck clearance. Wish I had a hydraulic flip neck. Very smooth operation.
    Could a winch be used some how?

    That’s wrong. @Rontonio is right. You can’t Load an evenly distributed load that takes up most of the well and have the axles maxed out on a six axle setup. You should have stretched the trailer about 4’ and loaded all the way to rear. We do it all the time to get weight off our drives. IMG_7453.jpeg

    also you’re missing a step when disconnecting your neck, in my opinion. After you set the trailer on the ground and pull your dog bones, slide your fifth wheel all the way forward before you put the board under your neck. And put the board on the flat part of your frame or ramps. The step will eliminate your last two threads.

    This is correct in my mind as well. If you see in the picture I posted, the extra 10 foot of space in front of the load. I opened the trailer that amount to scale the load properly.

    Should have done this prior to being loaded. This is one for experience. Load that takes all deck and is heavy, open trailer up

    Maybe this will help also...... I dont stretch but, my trailer is almost 59ft long with a 34ft well.... I load almost everything, unless its real light(like under 8-9k) to the rear. That keeps all the weight off my drives. And all the states I run allow more weight on a tridem for legal loads(without being overweight).

    I THINK this machine was 42k lbs which put me a little over 91k so even then I still load to the rear.

    You have the ability to stretch on pieces that take up your whole well to get the weight off the drives. But, stretch prior to loading. For the most part as long as you're not stretching too much(length) and having multiple pieces your good. Just check states that your going through for escort requirements for length.
