Hey ya'll just want to debate whether float or double clutching the gears.
(disclaimer: I know in trucking school and with a trainer you have to double clutch, I am talking about when you go solo and get your assigned truck)

Having quite mastered double clutching, but I'm pretty #### good. I single clutch a lot. Been trying out floating here lately.

Vote Float.
D/C is taught in training and you should be proficient in either, but floating, imo, is much better for less clutch wear, and simplicity.Criminey Jade Thanks this. -
That is what I have heard, when my father owned his truck back in 05, I was 14 and i floated the first 5 gears in a empty parking lot lol I thought it was much easier than using the clutch lol

You cant really single clutch a non synchronized trans. if your single clutching your probably half floating. You prob floating out then doing the second part of the double clutch to get it in.
Floating or Double clutching is acceptable, just try to reduce grinding and forcing in as much as possible. Theoretically, double will wear out your clutch faster but a poor float will damage your trans faster. I double when i have a real hard shift, but mostly float. If you need to force it into gear your at the wrong rpm and are slightly damaging the trans.KW Cajun, Criminey Jade and Macneil Thank this. -

Do some companies have a "no floating" policy? It may sound a little silly to ask but I would like to know lol
-
Some companies want you to double-clutch.
Once you leave the terminal, do what is more comfortable for you.
I vote for float!JNaum and Criminey Jade Thank this. -
ah alright, I have never driven a manual transmission before except that one time with my father. I start trucking school on september 3rd, so it should be interesting to say the least lol

When I earlier stated that one should be 'proficient' in either, my "either" was intended to mean "both".
