This is just to warn everyone about Florilli Transportation out of Iowa. I worked there for little under three months and was taken off work by my doctor. In the midst of trying to explain this to them, I was given nothing but a hassle and threatening messages on my phone and satellite. They said I had to drive the truck back to Iowa even though my doc took me off driving indefinitely. Now as a result they are holding my last paycheck. It is not only that though. The entire time I ran for them it was over hours and unappreciated. Don't want to see anyone else get wrapped up with them. Good luck and best wishes to u all out there!
Florilli (what a joke)

I am wondering, friend, for what medical reason did the strawbones take you off driving status?
-
I'm wondering what you expected them to do? Sympathy? an offer to come get your truck out of their pocket?
So you got sick, that's not their problem. -
If an employee is on the west coast and in the capacity of representing an employer and this employee is injured on the job or becomes ill , it is the obligation of the employee to see that care is provided and a form of transportation home.
A good lawyer would have a field day with this. But as usual, this employee will walk away with his tail tucked between his legs and another employer will win the game through intimidation.Last edited: Mar 23, 2009
dannyboyb31, ProPilot and ROADRUNNER2 Thank this. -
got to stay away from companies with third party Human resouces and payroll companies....It is a red flag: I think they use TLC some more to stay away from People Lease from SC and Driver Prosource.

I know of companies that will disregard ANYTHING Florilli puts on a DAC report. They are notorious for trying to put career ending information on there. My brother worked for them for about 8 months and from what he said, they are not a good company to work for.

Do you know anything about labor laws? Is he suppossed to drive this rig back after being shut down for a medical reason? Will he be covered if he has an accident due to his medical condition? Should he be paid to drive it back? Maybe they could fire him with just cause because he drove when not allowed! This would open up the company for all kinds of liability.
There is several law firms in my area that target truckers in accident situations. -
OK, I am gonna hit on all the posts here.First, I live in Iowa.A trucking company can hold your paycheck for 45 days, but must release it to you. After naturally any money owed to the company has been taken out. You should not drive a commercial vehicle if your doctor pulled you off truck, period. You are no longer D.O.T. certified to drive.
As for the running over hours.I can not see why you would mention that. You are driving the truck.Which means you drove over hours. If you let a company push you, they will.I know for a fact that Florilli does not encourage over hour operation, and is strict as of this time about it.Being I live near their base of operation.I have first hand insight. Yes, they use people lease. No they do not want drivers to run illegal.yes, they are strict. Florille is like any other company. They are watching their bottom dollar. In todays economy they have to.
The way I see it.You did not communicate with Florilli until after the fact. Thus they took a harsh approach. It is not their problem, if they do not know about it. -
In reference to your post about Florilli Transportation in Iowa. My husband was employed by them for a total of 3 months...he also had a doctor release him from his driving duties based on his elevated blood pressure. I was in the truck with him for those 3 months and I can speak from experience that I do agree with you when you say that they make their drivers run over hours and as far as the unappreciated part that is true as well.
I would not want to see anyone waste their time with this company. If we can only spread the word to everyone out there. This company basically sucks and I am sure that one day, they will realize how to run a business.
Good luck to everyone out there.

Keep on truckin' & Be safe out there.Big Duker Thanks this. -
i worked for them a while ago . they were ok to work for except that in the office there was no communication between dispatch to mechanics to operation managers to the owner . i was qual commed to death by things that if they did communicate should of been dealt with in the office . i just guess they did not want to climb out of their desk to ask the appropriate person so they bugged the drivers over small stuff. i wonder if they found out that new fancy thing called networking.... probably not..... family owned and operated was a plus and a big minus ... those of us whom been down that road know exactly what i mean..... those that have not here it goes..... but just briefly... ya pi$$ off one ya got the whole gang after ya.... what one percieves on ya the rest follow suit get the picture... no one wants to pi$$ off daddy or the boss man...... but they are really quick to put bad stuff on your dac from what i have seen and heard i was lucky to have left them in good standings.
