You know, with all the previous threads about starting truckstops, someone could always pop up seperate drivers lounges across the street from truckstops, no truck parking, but just across the street from truckstops. Wouldn't cost much.

    Flying J
Clear Brook, Virginia (about eight miles north of Winchester)
    I 81, Exit 223
    July 11, 2010

The Chinese and Pizza place are sectioned off with new plywood. The soda dispenser area and coffee area are also sectioned off. The phone booths in the drivers lounge area are not accessible. There is a narrow tunnel in back of the TV lounge seating area and the laundry to pass through to the bathrooms. There are two roll on / roll off dumpsters right outside the front door. There are two shipping containers (probably filled with construction material) where the RV's normally park.

I was told at the fuel desk that due to the merger with Pilot there are several things going on.

The Chinese place and the Pizza place will be turned into a Subway. The Country Market will eventually go away to be replaced by a Denny's. There will be new drink dispensers, new fuel islands for cars and the floor space for sales around the fuel desk will be changed.

I told the fuel desk clerk that I did not want to hear that the Country Market was going away and taking the buffet with it. I never had a problem there and enjoyed eating there. She said that quite a few people had expressed those same ideas. I told her to pass that up the chain of command that there is a customer who is not a happy camper.

I told her to check out on the Truckers Forum some of the comments that are being left about the Flying J and Pilot merger.

I can promise you that corporate does not care that a customer isn't happy.

There are 20 more standing behind you to take your place.

    This is the corporate mentality.

Soo in other words, it's being turned into a pilot, just as i expected to happen.

Its really too bad it couldnt be the other way. Its too bad pilots couldnt be turned into flying j's.

It's too bad they didnt off the pilots with horrible parking to Loves.

I will no longer be patronizing flying j. I have boycotted them (over rewards card issues), and will do it again. Permanently. No problem at all. I will just go anywhere else. Even petro, who i usually dont go to.

You are right BUT I had to get my two cents out there and tell them I was not too wild about the Country Market going away. So, come what may I told them what I think.
