Flying J/Pilot showers vs Loves, quality comparison?

It's less a matter of which chain has better showers than "is this shower at chain X new or old?" Since Loves is building about half of all truck stops being built, more Loves locations have new showers. Ive been in numerous old TAs with a big shower and old Pilots and Loves with very small shower rooms.

I stopped at the Love's in Holland, MI today to get a shower. Something I usually don't do during my driving day but it looked like I wouldn't be stopping at a Love's for a few more days.

    I'm glad I stopped there.
    Very nice, that one.
The top shower head was the good one, they had very hot water and good water pressure.
    Clean, as usual.

Loves wanted to put a SORELY needed TRAVEL CENTER,, not truck stop, next town over, corners of 50 & 285, 2 major highways in Colorado. You should have heard the public outcry, these wealthy axxholes , NOT IN MY BACKYARD, they cried. Fumes, traffic, and those scumbag truck drivers eating our children,,blissfully unaware where their strawberries come from( the back of the store, of course), but 1st to complain on any kind of trip in their motorhome, and so disconnected. We need that travel center for jobs and to keep our society moving ,so Loves had to abandon the location, and try somewhere else. Nice going, PONCHA SPRINGS!!!

It depends on how good the manager is. Case in point the J in S Beloit. There is a marked difference in cleanliness everytime the manager changes.

It’s about the same, but overnight showers are hit and miss at pfj; loves was more reliable for them. I’m mindful that my hair takes awhile, so I only hit the showers late at night or midday… my cat axes the midday when it’s hot since I don’t trust the truck.

Doesn’t mean those are still used for showers though…. But it makes you pause, no doubt…

Last week I had a few stops at a brand new Love's in Wasenberg CO. The showers were like heaven after a couple of days without going hard. They had hotel quality shower heads, temp, and water flow. I got out and passed out for 10 minutes on the bench without realizing it.

Haven't been to a PFJ in years. But when I use to fuel and shower there. What really stopped me from even parking was cleanness. Those lazy workers never would clean the shower. Seems like there would always be a wait because ppl would quit. And as they were walking out the door. They would be yelling I didnt get hired to clean the showers!

But while waiting in the hallway or the drivers lounge. At times you would see there cleaning process. And it was just a few squirts from that bottle of solution. And dry off the walls and floor with the same towel they give you when you come in.

So since I started going to loves the showers and overall truck stop is far cleaner than PFJ. My cousin was just telling me the other day. That he went to a PFJ and the cashier said they were waiting on maintenance to come clean the showers that night. I said man they will make up any excuse.
