. You should have your stop in mind before you even start. And adjust as the day goes on, if you are gaining or losing time. Look in your truckstop book and see where you can make it before time runs out. 90% of these guys would have no problem. It gets tricky when you are oversize and route down some pig paths and have no clue what or if anything lies ahead. But even with that you can plan a trip it just take a little more.

Not necessarily an hour that depends where you're at and the time of day. With exp you'll know what truckstops, restareas to park at that will be easy access.

I knew someone was going to come along with this nonsense. You have a choice. Find somewhere else to work. Don't try and push your "No choice" bs off on anyone but yourself. If your company is having you do late night pickups-delivery then they should have a solution for your parking dilemma.

Wow. How does one respond to that? I hope you don't eat because if you do, you are one hypocritical individual.

And yes my company like most others pays for reserved parking where it's available and prudent, but I suppose you're one of those who thinks that concept is a travesty. SMH.

I'll chime in here with a few comments. First, if you don't have it, then download the Trucker's Path app. You can see current availability of parking for truck stops, rest areas, or Walmart's with truck parking (yes they exist).

When I am on a long haul I stop about an hour or two short of where I want to end my day and focus on where I will stop for a 10. I use Trucker's Path, Google Maps, and my Rand McNally GPS to find several options.

As others have noted, it never ceases to amaze me that it is a common thing to have a total cluster #### close to the fuel islands and buffet, but frequently if you drive to the back of the lot there can be enough open parking spaces to put a good sized fleet.

Learn to blindside back. On my regular routes there are truck stops (yes, even those jammed up with mega carriers) that have available parking 24/7. That's because thanks to excellent engineering there are several spots that require blindside backing. Those are almost always open.

Last, if you going to run at night and preparing to leave at 10:00 pm, help another driver. I see someone circling the lot at that time I flag him down and have him pull into position for an ideal setup so as soon as I pull out of my spot he can easily get in.

I've never downloaded any trucker apps because for me it was easier to get out the good ole pocket truck stop guide and go from there.I imagine you get out in the lower east coast that trucker app really comes in handy.

WOW. So much time crying about " oh I can't find a parking spot ". WOW. If your all that frustrated by drivers and truckstops then some of you need to hang the keys up and get jobs as parking lot monitors.

The pocket truck stop/rest area guide used to be my Bible. Since getting the Rand McNally GPS and the Trucker's Path app I never use it anymore. The book doesn't have current information on new or closed truck stops, or available parking.

Vandalia has been a CF for as long as I can remember but Walton has only recently started parking enforcement and it's 100% at the fault of drivers. When guys would single and maybe double park out from the curb along the drive they wouldn't say anything, but it's gotten so bad with guys literally parked 5 and 6 wide to the point you can only exit going backwards through the fuel island. This along with guys parking 2 and 3 rows out from the end toward to fuel island to the point you can't make the turn around another truck pulled forward after fueling, they've dropped the hammer. As others have said im glad they're enforcing the no parking areas now.. it's gotten way out of control.
