Guess the op never heard of a fire lane. Do this lazy crap in Texas and wake up on a hook, they don't knock when you park next to the red curbs.

Few things worse than waking up to a someone blocking you from leaving a lot. If the lot is full then you can use having to find a safe haven for justification for going over your hours. I just had this happen to me in Fall River ma. I'm out of hrs I'm parked on the side of the road off the path of traffic, there's barely any traffic, I'm there about 4 hrs and a policeman knocks on my sleeper and asked that I move. I drive to a better place to spot, I think you got like 25 miles, and parked for the night. Wasn't hassled by anyone. Use the safe haven clause but if you get audited it had better make sense I think

You used it incorrectly. Unless you are under permit or hazmat
MachoCyclone, Steelhauler1246, SingingWolf and 1 other person Thank this. -
I am self contained in the truck. I will probably order their steak and eggs before hitting the road, just to return the favor. But I am set and comfortable with food in the truck and a comfortable bed. Parked in the best spot in the wide open 8 hole lot and I will be ready to roll at midnight.
Edited to add: Two HWH loads backed in next to me. Daycabs with three drive axles and a lift axle. Five axles on the trailers with oversized banners and flags. More pulling in. Time to sleep, knowing no newbie is going to rip my new stainless steel bumper off tonight.Grubby, Steelhauler1246 and Rusty Trawler Thank this. -
its not the safe haven rule, it's the adverse conditions exeption to get to a safe haven.

Best hope the dot that sees it ain't fighting with his wife
Writing safe haven is not a legal loopholeMachoCyclone and street beater Thank this. -
The adverse conditions clause is really tight. It doesn't concider a mechanical issue as a excuse. If you or your company knew of the conditions, your not covered ect...
Rusty Trawler Thanks this. -
Adverse conditions is a 40 car pile up, a tornado, a blizzard (even the last to can be dismissed if they think you should have known or did know...)
Lepton1 and Rusty Trawler Thank this. -
Unless you can conjure up a blizzardstreet beater Thanks this.
