LMAO! That's kinda what I thought it said!

    Here's a dumb question:
If CAR DRIVERS are to blame for up to 75% of all car-truck accidents and CAR DRIVERS are responsible for 100% of car-car accidents, why do they keep passings laws, and punishing TRUCK DRIVERS???
Seems to me, we are going after the wrong people here, I'm just say'n.

Folks, I hate to break the REAL news, but the headline is VERY misleading... heck, it's downright WRONG!!!!

Read the actual agreement that was signed by the petitioners (Public Safety et. al) and the FMCSA, and you will see that:
1.) The lawsuit was NOT settled, it was held in abeyance (put on hold) for nine months.
2.) The FMCSA agreed to REVIEW the rules. That's all. There is no promise to change them at all.

Result? They might change completely, they might change a little, or they might not change at all.

    These are very important distinctions.

Everybody, including the mainstream industry media (like Fleet Owner Magazine) is blowing this way out of whack without reading the actual agreement.
BTW, the agreement itself is available by looking at the Fleet Owner article on their website dated Oct 27, titled "FMCSA to rewrite hours-of-service rules" and clicking on the link in the first sentence. (I'd include it here, but since this is my first post, it's not allowing me to include links. See AKN's post just before this one for the link.) The court filing is not terribly long, and if you take a few mintues to study it, it's not terribly complicated.

    Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.................
    because they don't CARE??
    They are funded by RAILROADS.
The RAILROADS won't be happy until ALL cross-country freight travels by TRAIN (not taking into account that the RAILROADS only have the infrastructure to handle about 14% of the total gross tonnage)

I've heard this said before, about the railroads.
I'm very interested to see this information. Does anyone have any proof that the railroad industry is funding (or controls, or started up) either CRASH or Public Citizen?
It wouldn't surprise me, but I can't quite understand how that hasn't shot their credibility with the government. How is it that FMCSA hasn't used that information to file for dismissal based on conflict of interest?

NO No No...they have to change them. The states are losing money, because drivers are finally beginning to understand the rules again. And they no longer get fines.
