Well I would have been in violation yesterday. Did just over 680 miles. drove 4.5 hours to my load point in Minnesota. Another 4.25 hours (had to stop part way to put on some fuel) to my unload point in ND. I was only about 2.5 hours from the shop were we park the trucks to go home for the night. Yeap I drove to the shop and went home and slept in my own bed. I sleep better there since I don't have to listen to a rattling truck all night (don't have an apu).
I did not go over my 14 but I went over my driving time by 15 minutes. I suppose I could have stopped about 15 miles from the shop/home terminal and camped out on a field access aproach. F that!!!!
I need a faster truck and Minnesota needs to raise the speed limits so I can drive faster legally.
FMCSA Gone and done it.....watch out.

Ok, your right,,,SB means SB,,not front seat, not TS, and nowhere else other than the SB,,,got it. I guess when I say, "run legal", I am lieing, so I probably shouldn't say it. But, I am running legal, I am driving my 11hrs and taking my 10hr break, per HOS Law. That is not the point here, the point is, truckers for the MOST part have things backwards,,not just the truckers but the industry itself. I will repeat what I said earlier,,I don't want gooberment regulation! That being said, too many drivers are messing up and just begging for it. If you don't/cant see that, than you are blind my friend. I may only have a short time holding an actuall CDL but Trucking has always been a part of my life, my father drove for 35yrs and 15 with my mom. I just didn't get my liscense until rescently because I wanted to stay home with family and raise my 5 kids.
The excuse; "they're too busy, they won't do anything anyway, or my comment don't matter,,,oh, and I don't have time", is getting old. It is backwards thinking. The truth is, we can make a difference, our vote can make a difference, that is for sure. Yes, many people are ignorant to the facts of what is really going on these days but, we must spread the word, so to speak, and get people un-ignorant. The more people we can get to vote, comment or just speak to their state official, the more we can get done. The more truckers we can get together on specific subjects, the more we can get done, but all this ranting is a waist of time and the official's love it.

Dieselgypsy:
There is one thing in your post I do not understand--you say you do not want government regulation and too many guys are messin up and just beggin for it?
I do not understand this--trucking has always been a regulated industry--de-regulation applied to who can haul what where and made it easier to get authority to transport--but there have always been HOS rules and dot and scales etc
All that is going on now is another rule change in terms of HOS and how companies(and drivers now) safety ratings will be scored--but none of this is new. That is why i am having trouble understanding your statement?
Am I missing something? -
I find this thread so fascinating. O/O's are complaining about the cost of installing when it says small companies are exempt. The EOBR is for the large companies, of whom are expecting more for less. Some day yes it will apply to the individual owners, just not yet.
I personally embrace the idea of EOBR's. Its a shot in the arm for drivers rights. The EOBR will mean less time on the scale house for inspections (eventually). The EOBR will show the DM's that we really do more work than they think we do.
Now if only we could get the goobernment to give us free wifi! LOLSheepDog Thanks this. -
I think maybe you might want to read the proposal again. This is for all carriers that use logbooks.

Excellent!!!
Yet the cost isnt that high as some one suggested. The company in this link offers the service for $35 per month.

What I am stating is that I don't want the Government making new rules,,I just want them to enforce the current rules. I do like the CSA and pray it works like it is being told. I don't want a change in HOS, and the ones we have are just fine, I wouldn't mind getting rid of the 70hr rule but other than that, they are fine. I just wanted it to be clear that I was not pushing for new Regulations, thats all.
I am not a geat writer of words, that goes for speaking as well, so I apologize if I come accross confusing.

Ok got you--now I understand where you are coming from! Thanx

$35 a month plus the intial set up. You most likely do not have to pay it if your a company driver but me as a truck owner i do. More money out of my pocket is bad for me when i allready have to pay for so much.
I've said this 100 times eobrs will do nothing for safety. You want to fix the issue let us sleep and work when are bodys want to do it not when some piece of paper or computer says we can. Stop the crazy deliver schedules and all the wasted waiting time. But that will never happen because the people makeing the rules have no idea what trucking is realy like and untill they do we will be stuck with there unrealistic rules.Lilbit Thanks this.
