You can still fudge the elog, that's not being disputed, the accuracy cones from those guys who like to turn an otherwise impossible run into a possible run just because they have that thing called "flexability"

Just heard another ELD horror story, darn thing wouldn't interface properly with a new Volvo, truck needed a tow, sat over the holiday weekend, and as soon as the techs unhooked it to plug in diagnostics, everything cleared, and the truck started. Probably cost 2 grand plus loss of income from being shut down.

Who gets to eat that crap sandwich?

I wonder if it was one of those ELD's capable of killing a truck?

What's wrong with that? I needed 8 extr minutes today on the drive line. Do you think I parked or pulled out paper and said ELDS went down ? Exactly. We need some flexibility. Not burning log books faster than fuel but some flexibility. Anything less is BS

Then log it and be deal with it. Why try to hide it? Nothing happens, the world doesn't implode on itself, you're dog doesn't die, and the ex wife doesn't take you back to court to get more alimony. It's a simple violation, you clear the violation out, make sure you the your 10 hour break and be done with it. Like I said in other threads, it's about being held accountable for your actions

You can't clear it out for xx number of days. Elogs is not the complete answer.
