Why do they keep changing them every year??

I dont think those special interest groups will be happy until we have record breaking bankruptcies and unemployment among truck drivers....I hope the welfare system can handle it.

Now my question is this, are they going to change the 10 hours off rule down to say 8 and that will restart your soon to be 8 hours of driving/12 hours of on duty?

If they keep it at 10 and you can only drive 8 then ha I feel bad for the general public and the costs of everything. I think this will make a lot of drivers quit and find something else. I mean come on a 62mph truck running for a straight 8 hours is only 496 miles. Say at the average of .34 cpm that comes out to 168.64 a day so thats only 1180 a week before taxes. So after taxes your going to be around 800 bucks maybe if your lucky. Then take out all of your expenses for the week and your making #### for money. Pretty rediculous....

Evidently the people in these groups must have secure jobs that pay well and nobody that they care about in the trucking industry....Wonder how they will like their taxes raised when all of the drivers go on the welfare system because it feeds their family better. It's all relative....wish they could take the blinders off and see the big picture and stop messing with something that is working well.

Nobody will be able to afford to be a truck driver and pay bills.....perhaps the immigrants will get these jobs next.....have fun regulating that!...Oh yeah that will cost more too.....Open up your pocketbooks taxpayers....

Teamsters won't be happy until every driver is forced into the union because they can't otherwise make a living. The only way they can do that is by ridiculously shortening our work day and weekly hours. Between the union and welfare.....I think I'll take welfare.

The problem with your math is you are assuming every day is a perfect day! No time wasted in traffic, or loading/unloading! And what company will be willing to let you run right to the legal limit? When the rules changed the last time I lost almost 1000 miles a week! A 3000 mile/week average plummeted to less than 2000 almost instantly. That was a $300 a week pay cut!!!
If we are reduced to even fewer hours, how much more money am I going to lose?? I wont be able to make enough, AT THE RATE I AM CURRENTLY PAID,to feed my family!

Welfare? I think most of us are in the wrong group to get welfare. We are legal citizens and work hard. When I was down for 10 months with no way to work, was I able to get any assistance? Hell no. If this industry goes further to hell, outside of the law may be the only option I have left.
