They better just leave things the way they are. Enough screwing with it already. Groups like Public Citizen have no clue what they are talking about either.

since when did non truck driving fools decide whats best for trucking???? (rhetorical question... this is the grand USA)
i can remember when it used to be 10/8 and man do i miss that!!! used to get in a cycle, would run during the aftns and nights in spit shifts, got in a routine and hardly ever had to bother with big city traffic!!
since then.. all they've done is screw with the hours to try and thin out the herd, the less "qualified" drivers they have to haul the freight, the more freight there is for the railroads and out-of-country importers!! -
This is just business as usual with the FMCSA. I don't see the changing anything they have what they want and will fight to keep it...

The last H.O.S. change didn't change the way I drive, and another one wont either.
I'll just keep driving however I have to in order to get the job done, and put it down on paper however the D.O.T. wants to see it.
That's why they make loose leaf log books. -

It doesnt matter how they change it, or leave it, or anything, somebody wont be happy. I'm surprised we arent told what time we can fuel, or must use certain highways after we file a route plan with the government (like pilots do with the FAA). Control control and more control. We truckers must stop driving at 11 hours, but its ok to jump into a 4 wheeler and continue driving 24+ more hours without getting into trouble, somethings just dont make sense! Drive Safe

The only thing I would like to see is being able to take a short break without it messing with the 14 hour clock. Give me a two hour break during the day and I am happy.
But then what I do uses up a 14 hour day already. -
The last time they were changed, when the split sleeper berth was changed is when in made it difficult for me. I could just show sleeper berth for the 2 or 3 hours to get loaded or unloaded and everything was fine. Now they're just creating the deaths of more trees. Thank goodness for loose leafs.
And for those of you that think down on us rogues for cheating on a log book, until the government does something to the shippers and receivers, it's not gonna change. Not for me anyway. It's hard enough to make a living in this industry as it is, but trying to run legal also is almost impossible. -
The only way things are gonna change is if drivers refuse to run illegal.
Pur48Ted Thanks this.
