Just some friendly advice!!!! NEVER assume it will never happen again!! You didn't expect it the first time, and you #### sure won't expect it the next either!
Things will happen whenever they are going to happen, some preventable on your part, some not. Just don't think something like this won't ever happen again since its done and over with now!
I'm glad they kept you and you stayed! Best of luck and just watch anything and everything you do!!!!! ESP when you can be replaced w/ 1 phone call!

Hey Kids!! as soon as you get out of mega truck school head down to the local pilot for some of that 24/7 demo derby action!!
they set up near the interstate so you can run through with you jakes and be back on the interstate before they get you truck#!
if they would just set up some eco blocks on the corners it would be a truckers paradise!! -
For this very reason you are to keep spare log books in the truck. If the QC does go out you switch to paper until fixed. Also, once you go electronic, you are required to have a DOT Quick Reference card. Its a instructional card provided by Qualcomm that has pictures and instructions about Elogs. This is a DOT requirement. Keep it in your permit book in the drivers door.

I know I said no more updates, however I feel like this will help someone wanting to go Swift. They say you need sic month exp before going local. Not true, check this out for those of you who want home time. I just got accepted by Dollar tree to do their runs. 30¢ a mile, plus an extra $100 bucks every week of safe driving. Its not a local run, but I'm home every weekend, anas l go no further then TX. Its all about speaking up and earning a good relationship with your DM.

Good for you!!! I just hope its not like the Dollar Generals and Family Dollars up here in the northeast. Lots of backing into the tiniest screwed up places with many obstacles.

Just take it easy and do not let people rush you. Home every weekend is sweet right out of the gate! -
You should keep up with the updates. It's good information and will give new drivers another view on the growing pains all new truckers go through.
Personally I'm looking to get back into the game after being away for three years. Gonna have to do it all over again. I moved from Maine with my CDL to the communist state of Massachusetts that refused to transfer it. I had an absolutely clean record, no violation, no accidents ... no go in Massachusetts. So I have to do it all over again. Thinking about Swift.
I started with Stevens. They're not as bad as some, worse than others. Keep the updates coming. Tell us how the regional gig works out.

Welcome to the family, Love2Shift. I've been with swift since last november, I got sent out of the gates in a 05 volvo with 430,000 on it, Roomier than my last appartment and the way I see it, already broken in, like a comfortable pair of gloves, But it does see it's share of the shop. I trained in a prostar and I cannot fathom how two of us shared that tiny truck for an entire winter. A word of advice? learn to put your chains on next time you have a bit of time. Learn to chain up in July in broad daylight while all the other stare at you in wonder and crack jokes on the cb, not in december at midnight in the hammer lane on I-90 in -9 temps and 55 mph winds holding a wobbling flashlight in your chattering teeth.
Rattlebunny and Papi1960R Thank this. -
Great, regardless of what all of these veterans are saying, you are doing great man, your future is bright if you keep that attitude. Keep Trucking!!

Is the blood pressure thing pretty much set in stone at orientation or do they try and work with you on it and hire you or do you have to get it under control and come back-last time i checked mine it was 139/90 and looking to come to swift.
