Well good luck. I did not have a problem till I went out with the trainer. When I went out with the trainer they told me I would see family in about 2 weeks. I did not see them for a hole month.

Wow.. That sucks, I have a family back home as well. I knew that going into this industry that l would have to be flexible for six to seven months. After that I plan on going local (within Swift). Which terminal did you and your mentor come from? I ask because l would not want to have a mentor that lives on the EastCoast, and spends time at home, and l live in Calif.

I live in NJ so I went to the PA terminal. The trainer was from SC.

Swift does not allow pets on company trucks.

Most of the fleet trucks are nine speeds. A "Super-10" is one that will auto-shift between 9 and 10. I had one and it drove me nuts.

I don't know where you get this idea it is better to "cheat" on your logs. I will strongly discourage you from doing so. Swift's Log Department will check your logs against the Qualcomm GPS locator. Last thing you need when first starting out is a bunch of log violations. Mark your fuels on the nose. No wiggle room there at all. Otherwise, keep yourself within 15 minutes and 15 miles of what really happened. Which is not to say I never take breaks. I will drop a break in the middle of my driving if necessary.

Welcome to the team. It's good to see such a great attitude.

Most are out 6-8 weeks until they complete training. I was out 6 weeks straight with my trainer. I still stay out 4-6 weeks. You work OTR you don't make money them weeks you go home.

Thats why I am saying it to Love2Shift so he knows. They told me I would be home in 2 weeks and that was not true.

Well, Baz, at least you found out early on in your career that things don't always go as planned in this field. You'll either adapt to that or you'll be very unhappy.
