Local Close Quarters Training. They send you out with a day-cab driver to get some backing and close-quarters practice. If you're going to be down for a few days, see whether they'll let you do that. They may not, since you're not finished with mentor time, but it never hurts to ask.

Ok swift is starting to get on my bad side. How could my mentot do that to me. Now I'm stuck in this nasty hotel, they putting carpet upstairs from me, so l weald awaken to loud banging and its been since six in the morning. The Fontana student DM never ever answers the phone nor return calls. The only way to get feedback its to email them. I keep getting thesame answer "we looking for a mentor". I have no way home, and l been sitting looking at these ovet weight drivers for 72 hours now. 72hrs that could have been taken off my training, and am l getting paid Nooo, because I'm not on a truck. Things are really going south (well expect me)

That's not right. If you can't talk to someone at your own terminal, call Phoenix and ask for Driver Services. Explain the situation and let them know you can't afford this. You are there through no fault of your own. I don't believe you should be penalized for it.

Ok I didn't think to call the main terminal. Well what's going on now is Sumner DM's were really making me feel comfortable. They pulled the strings that my home terminal didn't pull, or took forever to do. I'm now on the truck with another mentor, the plan is to take me to Sacremento, Ca terminal and from there l will get a bus ride home. Do you think I will get into troble by asking for hometime. I just feel like these thee days been crazy and l would like to reboost, re energize, and relax untill Monday. I asked but got no reply..

Regional safety guy is in the Lathrop terminal. Assuming that's the one you're talking about. It'd really bite to be dumped off at Willows.

So....what are you going to do if you decide you like this guy and want him to train you?

    Eh?

They don't do it that way at all terminals. The terminal I am out of uses the same guy that gives the road tests for orientations.

Well I don't think l could stay with him for my training. One, he's not clean at all, l came into the truck and piss bottles laying around. Howe could theses guys be so nasty. Two, he speaks little english. H oi w are these guys getting American jobs, but cant speak english? And Three, he's a heavy smoker. I dont smoke and can't stand the smell of it. He said he won't smoke in the cab, but the truck smells like smoke. So I will be at the lathrop tomorrow mourning from there I'm going home this its too crazy.

Don't let it get to you so much that you just quit, or take your hometime and never return. You've gone too far to turn back now I feel. Even though this is a "downfall" for you rightnow, your getting ALOT of experience how people are in this idnustry. Try to see thru the fog and learn from this experience. MAYBE, just MAYBE 1 out of 7 days a week you'll have a good day where NOTHING bothers you. Chances are everyday something will annoy you or piss you off, or trouble you mentally. I speak from experience. When I first got out on the road w/ a bad trainer I let it get to me and that ruled how I handled myself for the next 3 years. Once I saw the light and didn't let anything hold me back, I've been back trucking for years now and its still a love/hate relationship.

Either way, someone said it before me, but your getting to see the industry and the people you'll be dealing with everyday. You see it from a rookies eyes, but once you see it through an experianced drivers eye you'll be very glad you toughed it out.

Keep on trucking through your training and into your solo career, you've done too much to turn back now!
