WHAT FOOD DELIVERY JOB APPROACHES THESE WAGES AND BENEFITS?
Ok, Dominoes probably pays better (i hear well over $2000 per week) and the benefits are likely superior to UPS, but it's teams.
But what other foodservice company?roscold90 Thanks this. -

Now, we still do some inside deliveries and residentials, but usually only one piece---say a computer or a printer or shelf. Still much easier than 50 or more cases of food.
Now, if some people LIKE the excercise of food delivery(and i'm not opposed to SOME physical work) then fine. However, i don't think balancing 250+lbs on a handtruck and moving it down(or up) a whole flight of stairs into the customer's basement is good exercise and , in fact possibly harmful to you.
And yes, i've done plenty of food AND BEVERAGE delivery so i know the i difference between it and LTL.Bob Dobalina Thanks this. -

Yes, theoretically this is generally true. HOWEVER, based on my experiences and observations when involved with union companies (Autotruck, UPS, NEMF etc.) you might very well be surprised how many top guys do not want to:
a) work weekends
b) go on longer hauls
c) want overtime
d) want certain routes.
So with UPS, i could not bid for the first 4 1/2 months i was there BUT after that i was able to get a more suburban-type route. For some reason, no one else wanted it(everyone was happy where they were at?). It was mostly dock stops and really not a bad route if you don't mind going to the same places everyday.
With autotruck, i was able to get a 2700+ mile run only my 3 week with the company. i think at the time they had 700 hundred or so drivers and i was like 690 on the board or something. Not everyone wants the long cross-country runs.
And weekends? In a lot of cases the top guys do not want this.
All of this means more money for the lower people on the list.
A lot of it depends on your terminal.207nomad Thanks this.
