My gig paid by the case and hourly.
I started out local, pulled shuttles and then went regional. I’d leave out late Sunday night and get back home around 4am Tuesday. Then leave Wednesday night and back Friday morning. The regional was lots easier pace than local, but local was NUTHIN too tough.nextgentrucker Thanks this. -
So can a scrawny guy like me do it? Lol

####... I was thinking of using that experience for OTR, oh well, what do you mean by taking of my body and do you know any company hiring new CDL grads in my area?
-
What do you guys think about beverages, I heard they are worst than groceries. I've seen a Coca-Cola truck like this one day near my area, any thoughts?

Yes, you can if you use proper lifting techniques and a back belt. We were required to wear the back belt. We had several women doing it also and they were slim and trim women.

Physically demanding jobs can take years off your life if you aren't careful. Lifting with your back instead of legs or twisting while carrying something with your feet planted will ruin your spine.
I damaged my spine in the L4/L5 and S1/S2 areas from improper lifting while doing multistop hand delivered floor loads of paper. If youre smart, don't ever rush, move cautiously and don't bite off more than you can chew when handling the freight you'll adapt but in the end it will take its toll on your body if you stick with it too long.nextgentrucker and buddyd157 Thank this. -
Every company I worked for hired drivers that had been local with no OTR experience. Pass the road test and you're hired. Some companies can be picky with a local driver that has no experience with ice & snow, but not all are that way.nextgentrucker Thanks this.
