I've had more than one lease map drawn for me on the back of a paper plate.

 

He may have a gut but at least he's dressed for success Lol no flip flops. Pay for his daily buffet and you got one hell of a worker (and a new seat for him)

 

X2 Lol. When your 6 deep in a convoy with cement that the rig needed yesterday for a long string and you get lost on some west virginia back road. When we managed to find a farm to turn around at and got back into cell service we all had half a dozen missed calls Lol. One of the rig hands came out to meet us. We gave him a pin drop on our location since we couldn't find theirs

 

Lol I had a similar experience in North Dakota back in 2012.Headed to a rig with a hydrovac and my crew behind me in the chase truck to clean the mud pits.We could see the rig on a hill but couldn’t find the right lease road leading up to it so we kept circling it till finally I said flack it and drove a half mile through a farmers field and up the side of the hill and onto the pad where the rig hands had big ole smiles on their faces because they had seen what I had just done.Don’t know how I didn’t get stuck.Lots of good memories in the Bakken.

Is like anything else, pay more and the workers will come.

I thought I could find a new site one time in S Texas. I was driving around lost for hours when I called overnight dispatch in PA. He can look up my position on google maps satellite view and at least point me in the right direction of the new sight. He starts screaming STOP THE TRUCK !! in a panic. He tells me Im driving through the woods. I had a good laugh. I then had to assure him that there was indeed a road, a series of roads, recently cut through the ranch and I wasnt driving through "the woods". He regained his wits, stayed on the phone for the next hour, guiding me to the coordinates of the new site.

These oil companies do have real up to date maps (Ive seen them) but for some reason they are kept hidden away like a hooker hiding her herpes sores lol.

 

It’s very common in South Texas.I don’t know how many times I have been on a location and someone needed a pin drop and when I look at Google maps the lease road I just traveled on is non existent and It looks like I am in the brush.

 

This happens all the time out here in west Texas also.
