For reliant internet is a WiFi booster than a hotspot?

I second the Verizon. My only complaint with Verizon was the price. So I switched to one provider that sells Verizon network access at a cheaper price called Xfinity Mobile. That my bill from $90/mo to $70/mo for unlimited AND phone payment. The drawbacks to Xfinity is they limit the speed of data when using your phone at a hotspot to .6 or .7 megabytes/sec. Verizon doesn't throttle hotspot through phone speed.

Besides Xfinity Mobile, you can also use Simple. That is Verizon's discount brand. I think they advertise $40-45/mo for unlimited. They MAY only support Apple products. I haven't looked at them recently. NOTHING matches Verizon coverage. ATT was probably second to them in coverage. You really need to know what areas you will be running. You can get good deals from Sprint and Metro but their coverage isn't as complete. A bargain but little coverage where you are is no bargain.

I'm not trying to boost anything. The OP is trying to figure out a way to avoid monthly service fees and thought a booster would do that. It won't. You said that a booster would boost the truck stop's WiFi signal. It won't. The booster in question is for boosting the PHONE'S signal, thereby, in theory, increasing the signal to and from cell towers.

Me, I have the old Verizon unlimited that they did away with several years ago and I get 4G everywhere it's available and very few issues regarding bandwidth. My signal is typically pretty good and I run Midwest/Northwest. There are some places where a booster might help me, but I don't think it's worth the investment since those spots are fairly infrequent.

At least 5 years back from now every cell phone can provide hot spot connections. I have in my truck one cell phone connected to 2 laptops, printer and TV. All can work at same time.

Well I'm in Laredo, with $90 Verizon beyond plan and I have 3g right now. I feel like second class citizenship.

Border areas always seem to get sketchy service.

Switched from AT&T with a shared plan to T-mobile unlimited. I just hotspot off my phone. So far, so good.

Been with Tmobile for 3 years now , every year the coverage has improved . Use it as a hot spot and speeds are great .
