Makes you wonder how many times a driver didn't wake up in his sleeper and they figure it was a heart attack when in fact it may have been carbon monoxide. But yes, install a detector in your truck and a smoke alarm as well.

It is definitely dangerous. I knew this guy.
Death of trucker found at AR weigh station ruled accidental
I don't use a gasoline generator, but I have had a smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector in my truck for many years.Hulld and Studebaker Hawk Thank this. -
They should be outlawed!
I don't give a #### if they poison themselves to death. But they can park next to you when you are asleep with windows down, you never wake up and they will just leave without even knowing they killed a man.runningman0661, Hulld and tommymonza Thank this. -
they what about all the RVs and campers at camp grounds and RV parks? Are you going to outlaw them there, too?
God prefers Diesels, Hulld and Studebaker Hawk Thank this. -
Welcome to my ghetto setup.
I use this mainly for cooking, cheaper than running the truck.
90% of the time I sleep at night so I don’t really need AC and my heating can be on for 2 days by battery.

No. If you go to some of the RV parks they're stacked up just like a truck stop
-
Most RV parks have hookups so no generator is necessary. That would be all private RV parks and most public. Also, they have generator hours, off at night. Anyone who has been to the infield of a race track where lots of boondocking RV's are running generators can tell you the CO risk is real! It'll choke you out depending on how and where people are stacked up. LILIL's home made stack is a good idea and cheap too. I did the same on my motorhome since we like to stay off grid with it, or did when we had it.
Another idea is this. Frame up an angle iron frame under your trailer back from the truck. AC extension cords are cheap and you can bring the power up to your truck easily. 20' back from your 5th wheel and you'd never hear or smell a generator unless it's the cheap construction type.
