Wait until you have to do backing in tight places to make deliveries where there's no dock....
For those of you who just received your CDL

Rereading original post
Just go slow...like stupidly slow...a speed where you know you can stop and avoid hitting anything ever...So what if its 25mph in a 40...roll with the 4 ways on and move over when the rest of us come up on ya!!
You'll get faster everyday..
Ive had to shut down CB many a time...If i dont know whats around the next bend, i never do the speed limit, always slower...so i have ticked off drivers used to doing 15 over on my rear bumper being buttholes...
Oh well...I got my check, no scratches on equipment right? -

Lol na. Do that at night the first time. I did. I'll never forget the first time I went to downtown Manhattan in my pov. Had to go to Lincoln Center where my sister was working for Big Apple Circus. Had to drop her off there. Map Mapquest before gps was commonplace. Did it at night. First time I went to Hunts Point in a commercial straight truck... had car gps. Just followed truck route in once I got off 278. Don't want to to it in otr truck. No thanks

I think what really bothers me about this entire thread is it gets really concerning that if people are so afraid or apprehensive that they act scared, they seemed to be the ones always causing an accident. I've experienced people in trucks doing 50 MPH where there was a backup in back of them and people trying to pass them any costs. There is no excuse for this in a 70 zone, especially when there is heavy traffic. Can't drive it, find something else to do.
I tested one guy who really wanted a job with me in my simple to drive truck (automatic with clear views of everything around and a small rack trailer), he was so afraid of backing up that he got out seven times to make sure he was just aligned with the parking spot. He was even worse on the road, would not go over 50. I could not hire the guy, he was good at everything else but driving and he admits he was never a good driver. My friend hired him and he ended up getting into a bad accident because he was driving too slow. He didn't get fired, but what the owner did was move him into doing something he was good at in the business.WitchingHour, Lepton1 and morpheus Thank this. -

Just remember, if it takes you longer to make a back or such, and some "pro" gripes at you and asks "What's wrong with you? Are you new?"
Just smile at them and say, "Why yes I am! What's your excuse?"Crabgrass18 and NewbieTransport Thank this.
