I have always done my own oil/filters and lube job. I used to buy oil in 55 gallon drums, but got tired of the hassle.

Bought some today at Farm & Fleet for $8.00 a gal. Comes in 5 gallon buckets for $39.99 per. I loaded up. Can do a PM for about $110, oil/filters/grease.

Just a friendly public service for those here in the midwest who've access to a F&F.

Rotella of course, since there is no other.....

I can buy Rotella at my local Sam's club for that price if I wanted to. $23.95 for a 3 gallon case. I buy in large bulk quantities or at least used to. I don't change oil enough to need that kind of quantity anymore though. Now I got a 1000 gallon holding tank outside my shop collecting dust.:biggrin_25523:

I'd rather buy oil in the 1 gallon/3 per case # $24. Much easier to drain than holding a 5 gallon bucket. But last time I bought oil in gallon jugs by the case, it was $10 per. I'll have to look into Sams I recon.

How much are you paying in materials for your oil change? How often do you change? And how much does a shop charge?

    Thanks

I give my old oil to the repair shop for his oil fired heater. I call him and tell him I have oil and he picks it up. He lets be borrow some of his tools(A/C machine and torch) when I need to so it really works out.

Eskimo only changes his oil something like every 200k. that's what he means by having an oil tank collecting dust

well if you didn't already know you wouldn't have caught it. He run the gulf coast bypass filters. He only changes oil once on a truck if I remember right, then trades it at 400k or 500k
